Manchester United have already begun their hunt to recruit a world-class head coach next summer.

Club legend Gary Neville has now urged United to think big and go all-in for Carlo Ancelotti, a manager synonymous with calm authority and serial success.

Ancelotti is currently leading Brazil and will be fully focused on guiding the Selecao through the World Cup in July.

Neville said on The Overlap: “I have said Ancelotti because he is 66 years of age and he has probably got one more job left at club level.

“If there was one person who has got the patience, composure and experience of the Premier League [it’s him].”

Neville went on to outline the exact profile United should be targeting as they plot their rebuild.

He said: “Who can handle the media? Who can sort the dressing room out? Who can handle the owners? Who plays a style of football that fans will at least enjoy watching? Who has Champions League experience? Who has big?game experience?

From that demanding checklist, Neville identified three standout candidates who could realistically fit the bill.
