Celtic’s search for a new permanent manager is still ongoing following Brendan Rodgers’ departure from Celtic Park in October.

The Scottish champions have already been credited with an interest in a few targets. This includes Mark van Bommel, who has been without a job since leaving Royal Antwerp in June 2024.

De Telegraaf reports the 48-year-old has turned down Celtic and three Middle Eastern clubs. These unnamed clubs were willing to make a financial effort to appoint him, but he rejected them and Celtic.

“That’s right,” Van Bommel’s agent José Fortes Rodriguez told De Telegraaf about his client not considering these clubs.

The newspaper reports the manager wants to stay close to his son, Ruben Van Bommel, who is currently at PSV Eindhoven. The 21-year-old winger is recovering from a serious injury.

Following the claims of interest from Celtic and the Middle East, Ziggo Sport contacted Mark for a response and Voetbal Primeur have relayed his comments. Mark has confirmed he wants to be with his family and felt it was best for him to not take up a new job.
