As Celtic fans, we’ve been spoiled of late by having managers who are both intelligent and articulate. Men who can go in front of the media and basically slap them around. Yesterday’s Martin O’Neill press conference showed us exactly how lucky we are. At this moment in time, he is the one sitting in the media room.

We have had a heck of a week since Sunday, with the constant complaining, bitterness, and bitching out of Ibrox. Their media allies over the game itself and alleged controversies within it escalated. You need a steady hand on the tiller if you’re going to get through that firestorm. Yesterday O’Neill took it on and knocked down the critics with a single statement.

I like competent people who have a good skill set. I like Rodgers a lot, as everyone knows, because of the way he handled the media in particular. His neurolinguistic training came in handy. O’Neill, on the other hand, has legal training which is somehow even more impressive.
