Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he has heard from his sources regarding the recent speculation that Man United could move for one of Tottenham’s midfield targets.

Over the past couple of months, several sources have reported that Tottenham view Conor Gallagher as a perfect fit for Thomas Frank’s midfield.

It has been suggested that Spurs could face competition from Newcastle, Man United, Everton and Crystal Palace for Gallagher.

Man United have been particularly heavily linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid man over recent weeks, with reports claiming that Rubem Amorim has given the ‘green light’ for the Spurs target to be signed.

Last week, Fichajes even claimed that Man United are ready to offer €60m (£53m) for Gallagher in January, but Fabrizio Romano has now contradicted that claim.

He suggested that while United do want to sign the 25-year-old, they are not in a position to spend big in January, and are thus exploring a loan deal.
