Newcastle defender Dan Burn has urged his teammates to show their ugly side and ‘bully’ teams in the way Arsenal do, after a poor start to the season.

Dan Burn has been imperious for Newcastle ever since his move four years ago, scoring vital goals such as the opener in the Carabao Cup final over Liverpool last season, and a bullet header against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

But despite his heroics, he’s been part of a Newcastle side that have largely suffered in the Premier League this season. Just three wins from 10 means Eddie Howe’s side are 13th in the table, and Newcastle have already lost four games.

And that has led to Burn stating that Newcastle need to bring back their ‘ugly’ side and start bullying teams again, just as they did in the 2022-23 campaign where they only lost five games throughout the entire campaign.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s home Champions League tie against Athletic Bilbao, Burn noted that form simply wasn’t good enough.
