Gillingham striker Elliott Nevitt insists the team are not getting too dispirited despite Saturday's FA Cup exit at Newport County making it seven matches without a win.

The Gills took 21 points in a nine-game unbeaten start to their League Two campaign, but have not won since.

"We just need to stick together," Nevitt told BBC Radio Kent.

"There's nothing else we can do except go on the pitch and be a team, and try and win football games.

"Luck is going to turn, it's not always going to be like this. We just need to stay together and take every game as it comes, and try and win every game."

Nevitt says their lack of luck was shown by the performance of goalkeeper Jake Turner who deputised for veteran Gills keeper Glenn Morris, and made key saves in both the game and the penalty shootout, but ended up on the losing team.
