Newcastle United slipped to their fourth Premier League defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon, with a below-par 3-1 defeat to West Ham United – and Alan Shearer has made a huge claim on Eddie Howe that will make the Magpies boss question his tactics.

An early goal from Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy looked to have plunged West Ham to further ignominy on home turf, where they had failed to pick up a point against anyone in the Premier League so far this season.

However, goals from Lucas Paqueta and Tomas Soucek sandwiched an own goal from Sven Botman to give the Hammers their first three points.

It means Newcastle have yet to win on the road in the Premier League this season as they barely laid a glove on Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. And Alan Shearer has stated that their current squad may be the worst yet under Eddie Howe.
