Newcastle United will be one step away from the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup if they can edge past Fulham.

However, the tie has been handed an unpopular start time by the EFL after being selected for TV coverage on Sky Sports. The encounter with the Cottagers will now kick off at 8.15pm.

An EFL statement read: "The schedule for the Quarter-Finals of the Carabao Cup has been confirmed. Every tie will be shown live on Sky Sports, with two matches also selected for free-to-air coverage on ITV.

"On Tuesday, 16 December, Cardiff City host Premier League Chelsea live on Sky Sports Football at 8pm.

"There are two clashes on Wednesday, 17 December, as Manchester City host Brentford live on Sky Sports Football at 7.30pm, and holders Newcastle United entertain Fulham on Sky Sports Main Event and ITV at 8.15pm.
