Tottenham Hotspur fans will be surprised to hear what Toby Alderweireld has been up to after hanging up his boots back in the summer.

If asked to describe Alderweireld, most Spurs fans will say that he is a composed, solid, no-nonsense professional who is anything but flashy.

The 36-year-old spent six years at Tottenham and was a reliable performer for the Lilywhites, for whom he played 236 times.

He formed a superb partnership at the back with his compatriot, Jan Vertonghen, with that backline being one of the primary reasons for the club’s success under Mauricio Pochettino.

After leaving Spurs in 2021, the Belgian spent a short period at Qatari side Al-Duhail before returning to his boyhood club, Royal Antwerp, for whom he played until he retired from the game back in May.
