Manchester United legend Michael Carrick is one of the names reportedly on Wolves’ shortlist to be their new manager.

Wolves sacked manager Vitor Pereira with the Old Gold bottom of the Premier League table following their 3-0 defeat at Fulham on Saturday. Wolves have just two wins from 10 games, and fans had already turned on last season’s saviour.

The Molineux club have since started drawing up a shortlist for their next permanent manager, with Carrick among a number of names.

According to The Athletic, Carrick faces competition for the job from Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards, who replaced the former England international in the Riverside hot seat after he was sacked in the summer.

Gary O’Neil is also reportedly under consideration for a shock return to the club 11 months after he was sacked with the team in 19th place, with Pereira being named as his replacement.
