Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening in a game that they should’ve been looking to win.

However, before the game had even kicked off, it was clear that the Reds weren’t going for the win as most of Arne Slot’s starting XI were from their Under-21s.

There were a few decent appearances from players as the game went on, but in the end, the Reds’ youngsters were no match for a full-strength Crystal Palace side.

As mentioned, however, some players who featured against the Eagles did actually do well and up until the 40th minute of the game, the tie was fairly even.

In fact, Stephen Warnock even said that three of the Reds’ players were “superb” before Palace’s first goal went in.

Liverpool tried out yet another new formation against Palace on Wednesday, and although Slot may have thought it would help make them more solid, this wasn’t the game to test it out on.

If Liverpool had five senior centre-backs among their ranks, there would be no reason for them not to try it out.
