Newcastle smashed their transfer record in the summer with the signing of German striker Nick Woltemade in a £65million deal – and they’ve been told to do so again if they want to sign a star who is already loved in Tyneside.

Newcastle’s eight most expensive signings have all come in the Saudi Public Investment Fund era, with Alexander Isak previously topping that table.

Isak’s £59million Newcastle move was, however, eclipsed by Nick Woltemade’s £69million transfer from Stuttgart in the summer, and Newcastle have shown they aren’t afraid to spend money for Premier League success.

However, Eddie Howe will reportedly be made to part ways with a nine-figure sum if he wants to sign Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson – who he used 53 times before his move to the City Ground.
