Joe Cole has delivered a blistering verdict on three of Liverpool’s stars after their defeat to Brentford, labelling their performances as “awful”.

Liverpool suffered their fourth Premier League defeat in a row which came against Brentford on Saturday night.

The Reds suffered a 3-2 defeat against Keith Andrews’ team. The problems are mounting for Liverpool and manager Arne Slot who is struggling to find a solution to his team’s issues after making an impressive start to the season.

It goes from bad to worse for Liverpool

The defeat against Brentford takes Liverpool in 6th position in the league, below the likes of Manchester United and Bournemouth.

Cole pointed fingers at three Liverpool stars who were poor in the Brentford defeat.

During his half-time analysis on TNT Sports, Cole pulled no punches, naming Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté and Miloš Kerkez as the offenders as Liverpool’s defense capitulated in a 3-2 loss.

Cole’s criticism came after Brentford’s opener, a goal he described as symptomatic of Liverpool’s wider defensive malaise:

“The defending is awful from Van Dijk and Konaté,” he stated, highlighting the centre-back duo’s vulnerability under pressure, as reported by Metro.
