Mohamed Salah has set tongues wagging after he deleted references to Liverpool on his X account following the Reds’ 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. The Egyptian was benched by Arne Slot for the second Champions League match in a row, having also been left out of the Dutchman’s starting XI for last month’s trip to Galatasaray.

Liverpool lined up in a 4-4-2 formation without Salah, as Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike started together upfront for the first time.

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa was introduced ahead of Salah when Isak was withdrawn injured at half-time after suffering with a groin complaint.
