Florian Wirtz is yet to score for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah missed the opportunity to pass the ball to Florian Wirtz, who was in a prime position to score against Frankfurt, prolonging the German's goalless streak at Liverpool.

The £116million summer recruit was playing on home soil as the Reds bounced back with a resounding victory in the Champions League. Manager Arne Slot mixed things up by starting star forward Salah on the bench before bringing him on as a second-half substitute.

Wirtz, who started the match, played a key role in establishing Liverpool's dominant lead, having registered two assists, for Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai respectively. When Salah entered the fray, he was clearly eager to make his mark and found himself in a scoring position down the right wing, lining up for a shot on goal.

He could have easily passed to Wirtz, who was just eight yards out, but the Egyptian opted to take the shot himself. After goalkeeper Michael Zetterer saved his attempt, a visibly frustrated Wirtz expressed his annoyance at his team-mate by throwing his arms up in the air.
