Benfica need to be ‘compact with intensity’ if they are to beat Newcastle United in the Champions League this evening.

That’s according to their former man Florentino Luis, who has sent advice after playing for Burnley for two months.

Record have an interview with the midfielder today covering a range of various subjects. One of those briefly touched on was Benfica’s trip to Newcastle this evening.

They’re taking on the Magpies at St James Park on matchday three of the Champions League’s league phase.  It’s been a difficult start for them in this year’s competition, with two defeats from two games so far.

That’s left them 33rd in the table and seeking a big win this evening to kickstart their hopes of making the qualifying rounds.

Benfica come up against a Newcastle side currently sitting 11th in the table after one loss and one win in their two games so far. They’re looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to Brighton at the weekend.

Eddie Howe’s side head into the game as favourites but Florentino Luis thinks there’s a chance for his former side and offered his advice after two months playing Premier League football with Burnley.
