Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has sent a strong warning to his teammates following the team’s statement win against Liverpool.

Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire scored in either half to secure United a first victory at Anfield since 2016.

Liverpool’s sole goal was bagged by Cody Gakpo, who had struck the post twice before he eventually got on the score sheet to restore parity.

Fernandes played a key role in both strikes. He started the move for the opener, passing the ball to Amad, who then found Mbeumo’s run.

The skipper also delivered a sublime ball that Maguire was all too happy to head home and seal the three points for United.

Despite the celebrations following what Ruben Amorim hailed as his biggest win since taking charge of the club, Fernandes stressed the importance of maintaining momentum, beginning with next weekend’s fixture against Brentford.

He warned that anything less would see criticism return to him and his teammates.
