Arsenal maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Fulham after title rivals Manchester City briefly claimed top spot - but there was huge VAR controversy at Craven Cottage.

Pep Guardiola's side beat Everton 2-0 earlier in the day to move ahead of the Gunners. But their spell at the top was short-lived as a Leandro Trossard goal following a corner was enough to keep Arsenal in first, with City three points behind and champions Liverpool now four points adrift, ahead of their clash with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Martin Zubimendi returning to the midfield in place of the Gunners' injured captain Martin Odegaard was Arteta's only change to his starting line-up. Arsenal fans in the stands certainly enjoyed themselves in the first half, singing about former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou being sacked by Nottingham Forest.

But there was little to get their pulses racing on the pitch, as the home side were the ones pushing strongest for a goal, with David Raya tipping a Raul Jiminez shot wide and Zubimendi clearing a Tom Cairney volley.
