Former Chelsea man Jeffrey Bruma has hailed Didier Drogba, saying he was “a beast” on the pitch, but completely different off of it.

Bruma has been busy speaking about his time at Chelsea this week in an interview with Voetbal Primeur’s More Than Football series. He’s spoken about various aspects of his short, unsuccessful time with the Blues from 2007 to 2013.

He initially joined them as a youngster before eventually making it to the first team. But he only made 10 first team appearances in total between 2011 and 2013.

Bruma did, though, have plenty of good experiences while playing for the club. Most of those were playing alongside Chelsea legends such as John Terry, Didier Drogba and others.

He was left particularly impressed by the striker, admitting that he had two different personalities on and off the pitch.

“Off the pitch, he was a very gentle, kind, big man,” he said.

“But on the pitch? A beast, that’s all you can ask for. Every ball he got, he held on to. Whether you played it to his feet, chest, or head, he found a way to control it.
