Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi marked a major milestone in his international career as he made his first start for Argentina in the 1-0 victory over Venezuela. 

The friendly match, played in Miami, gave the 27-year-old a long-awaited chance to prove himself at the highest level. Speaking to DSports after the game, Senesi reflected on what the debut meant to him.

“I’m very happy to be here and to be able to play for this national team, trying to enjoy it as much as possible,” he said. “I knew the call-up would come.”

The Bournemouth centre-back also detailed Lionel Scaloni’s message before the match. “He asked me to play the same way I do at the club. To find passes between the lines and enjoy it to the fullest. Having Cuti and the whole team around gives you enormous peace of mind.”

Senesi’s calm presence and sharp distribution stood out during the match, with Argentine media praising his ability to read the game and maintain possession under pressure. 

His partnership with Spurs’ Cristian Romero, familiar to Premier League fans, offered balance and confidence to the defence.
