Chelsea are once again keeping an eye on Brazilian prospects, and this time the focus is on Santos left-back Souza. 

Several local outlets in Brazil over the past few days have reported this same story. The 19-year-old is being monitored by clubs from England, including Chelsea, with owner Todd Boehly reportedly approving his name internally.

The report says the Blues are tracking the youngster for the next transfer window. Even though Souza is not a guaranteed starter at Santos this season, his potential has impressed scouts abroad. 

His contract with the Brazilian club runs until 2028, and the board are handling the situation carefully while evaluating the growing interest from Europe.

Souza (or João Victor de Souza Menezes, if you like full names), made his first-team debut last year and has already made 19 appearances in 2025, registering two assists. 

His most recent contribution came in the 1-1 draw against Red Bull Bragantino on 28 September. He played only limited minutes in the matches against Grêmio and Ceará, but remains considered one of the brightest young talents in Santos’ squad.
