Caoimhín Kelleher reminded Liverpool what they're missing out on during Ireland's 1-0 defeat to Portugal on Saturday night. The Brentford goalkeeper, who left Arne Slot's side in the summer, saved Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty in the second half of their World Cup qualifier.

In the final 15 minutes remaining, Ivan Kruzliak awarded the reigning UEFA Nations League champions a penalty after Francisco Trincao's shot struck Dara O'Shea's arm. The Manchester United legend stepped up and, instead of aiming for a corner, he tried to outwit Kelleher.

Ronaldo fired the ball straight down the middle, and as the former Liverpool shot-stopper dived to his right, he managed to deflect the shot with his trailing leg.

Kelleher prevented the five-time Ballon d'Or winner from scoring, providing his nation with renewed hope of snatching a victory.

The Brentford goalkeeper has now successfully saved four of the last seven penalties he's faced for both club and country, with the most recent stops coming against Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Kylian Mbappe.
