Newcastle United have appointed ex-Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson.

Mr Wilson, who previously held the same role at Ibrox, left to become head of football operations at Nottingham Forest.

He now takes over from Paul Mitchell at St James' Park.

David Hopkinson, Newcastle United's CEO, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ross to Newcastle United.
