Emi Martinez is said to be an injury doubt for Argentina.

The Aston Villa No.1’s fitness is in the spotlight after he pulled out of his club’s Europa League clash at Feyenoord last week after the warm-up.

Martinez then returned to action as Unai Emery’s side beat Burnley in the Premier League last weekend, but afterwards suggested he had played with a calf injury.

“Tear in the calf? No problem. Another win at Villa Park,” he posted on Instagram after the match.

Martinez has since linked up with Argentina during the international break and they face Venezuela in a friendly on Saturday.

But TNT Sports report he arrived for Argentina duty “with some discomfort” and is doubtful to play for his country.

If Martinez does miss the match - and Argentina’s next friendly against Puerto Rico on Tuesday - it will cast doubt over his availability for Villa when they return to Premier League action against Tottenham on October 19.
