Morgan Rogers was the talk of Wembley last night as the Aston Villa attacker scored for the first time in 24 club and country matches.

The 23-year-old pounced in the third minute, turning home Marc Guehi’s pull-back with an instinctive, first time finish.

He followed that up with a clever 11th minute assist, lifting the ball close to the byline to the back post where Villa team-mate Ollie Watkins was on hand to turn home.

After being criticised for his sluggish start to the season, Rogers now has three assists and a goal in his last four games.

It is the second England game in succession he has shone - with the national media now suggesting he could take Jude Bellingham's place at next summer's World Cup.
