Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League title were handed a blow after their defeat to Chelsea. The Reds lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge with Cody Gakpo on the score sheet for the visitors in the capital.

The defeat for Liverpool saw them fall to second place in the Premier League, where they were leapfrogged by Arsenal who now sit at the top of the standings. The Gunners secured a 2-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday afternoon, propelling them to the top of the table going into the October international break.

There will now be a fortnight's pause before Liverpool return to Premier League action, where they are set to face Manchester United on October 19. There is a chance that the Reds could find themselves four points adrift of top spot by the time they kick off at Anfield, with Arsenal playing Fulham 24 hours earlier.
