Arsenal and Chelsea may have a better chance of qualifying for the next FIFA Club World Cup as new proposals emerge.

Chelsea emerged victorious in the revamped edition of the Club World Cup, which took place in the United States earlier in the summer.

The Blues won the competition after claiming a 3-0 victory over reigning Champions League winners and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey.

Chelsea were not the only representative from the Premier League at the Club World Cup, with Manchester City also in the competition before they lost to Al-Hilal in the last-16 stage.

Next time the Club World Cup is held in 2029, there could be more English teams competing. The Times have reported that there is the possibility that FIFA could allow three Premier League clubs to compete at the next Club World Cup, an increase from the previous two.

However, UEFA would have objections to this change if it meant that there would also be an overall increase in the total number of teams from 32 up to 48.
