Feyenoord will be without one of their star players for their Thursday night clash with Aston Villa.

Midfielder Quinten Timber is set to miss the game due to a foot injury he sustained last weekend.

Robin van Persie confirmed the injury in his pre-match press conference, saying: "He has a foot injury, and it doesn't seem to be that bad. He still has a chance for Sunday, but tomorrow is really too early."

"I think every match is unique. I always consider where players are coming from and how they recovered from the previous match, like Timber now.

"Timber was supposed to play tomorrow, but I was told yesterday that might not work out."

Sem Steijn, however, is expected to return to the Feyenoord line-up after missing Sunday’s match against Groningen.

In addition to Timber, Malcolm Jeng, Gernot Trauner, and Jakub Moder will also be unavailable for the Villa match.

Unai Emery’s side will be aiming for successive wins in the Europa League, having defeated Bologna last week.
