Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is walking a tightrope, with his job hanging by a thread after a disastrous start to the 2025–26 season.

The Red Devils have scraped together just seven points from their opening six Premier League fixtures.

Last season ended in misery with a 15th-place finish, and this term’s woes deepened when they were humiliated by Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler is one of the few names linked with taking over from Amorim if INEOS decide to pull the trigger.

When asked about the speculation, Hurzeler played it cool, telling Sky Sports that rumours are part of football while insisting his focus remains firmly on Brighton.

He said: “Tough decisions and rumours are always part of this job so you have to accept it, you have to deal with it, but I really want to say that I have a lot of respect for Ruben Amorim so I won’t talk about his job or any rumours that might come.
