Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly begun his West Ham reign in brutal fashion by wielding the axe on one of the squad's most experienced names.

Nuno was confirmed as West Ham boss on Saturday, just hours after Graham Potter was sacked.

The former Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest manager will be in the dugout on Monday night as the Hammers face Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Despite being in the job for just two days, the Portuguese coach has reportedly axed James Ward-Prowse from the West Ham squad for their visit to Everton.

According to the Sun, Ward-Prowse's expected absence from the squad is not injury related.

Ward-Prowse had spent the first half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest under Nuno.
