Rangers fans have been left buckled by the release of a special Hibs “do we look happy?” t-shirt which either appears to mock the Gers support or outgoing manager Steven Gerrard.

Ryan Porteous delivered an admittedly solid piece of post-match banter by using the phrase in an interview after Hibs’ 3-1 Premier Sports cup semi-final win over Rangers.

The line – which Steven Gerrard famously said when pressed on interest from clubs down south – comes amid a high-profile dispute between Porteous and Gerrard.

Gerrard had called Porteous out – and not before time – for his reckless tackling and near-constant attempts to cause damage to Rangers players.

This was after Porteous was sent off for a vicious lunge at Joe Aribo in Rangers’ eventual 2-1 Ibrox win over the Hibees earlier in the season.

But whilst the joke might’ve landed – albeit more in the direction of Gerrard than Rangers – Hibs have taken the quip into the realms of Easter Road dah and all but extinguished any suggestion that it can be socially accepted as decent patter.

“Tinpot” Hibs release special “do we look happy?” Rangers t-shirt

Confusedly launching a t-shirt with the phrase “do we look happy?” and a picture of the League Cup on it, we don’t know if this is aimed at Rangers fans or Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard, or if it jinxes their cup final with Celtic.

But one thing we do know is that the t-shirt is likely to be adorned by some particularly large-bellied gentlemen down Leith Walk and covered in beans, brown sauce and scotch pie meat by the time Rangers travel to Edinburgh to play Hibs next week.

Rangers fans – in stitches at the tinpot nature of the entire thing – are buckled on Twitter as the Hibs release appears to backfire. You had it so good lads, why did you have to go and ruin it?

Hibs never beat Rangers whilst the club was being managed by Steven Gerrard and here they are celebrating a semi-final win with all the vigour of the tournament champions.

This is exactly the sort of woeful patter that reminds us all just how big a deal Rangers are in the minds of these tinpot outfits. Keep it coming boys and please, do us a favour in the Final!

Meanwhile, Rangers legend Richard Gough has been calling on two Ibrox veterans to have a word with a leader within the Gers camp.
