Report: Joe Rodon vanished during Spurs' win at Norwich, likely to leave the club

Joe Rodon leaving Tottenham Hotspur has been a focus of discussion in recent weeks.

The Telegraph reported earlier in May that Spurs manager Antonio Conte was willing to sell the player who he has barely used since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.

Rodon only earned eight minutes of Premier League football under the Italian coach since becoming Tottenham boss in November of last year.

However, his ‘sudden disappearance’ last Sunday had nothing to do with a transfer. Obviously.

Rodon was named on the bench for the Lilywhites’ end-of-season win at Norwich City, but he was not pictured among the substitutes during the second half and wasn’t spotted after the game, either, according to Football London.

UEFA MUST STOP! NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE COULD RUIN FOOTBALL

There was a viral outbreak at Tottenham prior to visiting Carrow Road and Football London has reported that illness prevented the Wales international from making the bench for the second half or celebrating with his teammates after the game as Conte’s outfit secured Champions League qualification.

Vomiting, fevers and stomach problems were common complaints among the unfortunate Spurs players affected by the virus.

Football London added that Rodon is ‘likely’ to be leaving the North Londoners this summer, less than two years after an £11 million transfer from Swansea City under Jose Mourinho in 2020.

And honestly, Rodon leaving Tottenham Hotspur makes complete sense.

Clearly Conte isn’t completely convinced by the player and within weeks, Wales could book their place at the World Cup later this year.

Rodon has been named in the squad for their second-leg playoff against Austria, with the British side leading 2-1, and leaving Spurs might be important for his chances of making the final squad, should the Welsh qualify.

Regular football is absolutely vital and, sadly, he just isn’t going to find it under Conte.
