Grealish responds to Man United apology

Manchester City's Jack Grealish and Villa duo Emi Martinez and Tyrone Mings offered their support to Morgan Sanson after he apologised on Instagram for his reaction to being substituted against Manchester United.

Sanson was taken off by head coach Gerrard with Villa losing 2-0 before Philippe Coutinho came off the bench to aid a stunning fightback with a goal on his debut.

Sanson lashed out at a water bottle after he was substituted but took to Instagram to apologise for his reaction.

He said: "Congratulations to the team for the excellent reaction. Sorry for the second goal I cost the team but especially big apologies for the bad reaction I had with the bottle that landed in the crowd of course it wasn’t voluntary.

Villa receive transfer instruction

Villa have been urged to go all out for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma after chief executive Christian Purslow revealed the club is targeting more signings.

Villa have already enjoyed a stunning start to the January window having landed Coutinho on loan from Barcelona and signing Lucas Digne from Everton for around £25m.

Kerr Smith has also arrived in a deal from Dundee United although he is a long-term project with the teenager heading straight to the under-23s.

But Villa are still confident of making further additions to head coach Gerrard's squad with Purslow revealing before Saturday's 2-2 draw against United that they still hope to complete deals before the window's deadline.

Villa fans have same fear after Everton reveal

Villa will face an Everton team on Saturday reeling from the departure of manager Rafa Benitez.

Benitez was sacked on Sunday, a day after losing 2-1 to relegation-battling Norwich City.

A Michael Keane own goal in the 16th minute and an Adam Idah strike two minutes later put Dean Smith's Canaries in control at Carrow Road before Richarlison halved the deficit on the hour mark for Everton.

The Toffees couldn't get themselves back on level terms and suffered a damaging defeat that brings an end to Benitez's tenure after only six months and leaves them in 16th place and only six points from Norwich in 18th place.

Gerrard has perfect response to Villa critics

Gerrard has set about trying to transform Villa into contenders for European football since his arrival from Rangers in November.

Gerrard has endeared himself to Villa supporters with his plans for the club and transfer business that has seen Coutinho arrive on loan from Barcelona and Digne sign from Everton.

Villa's results have slipped with only one win from their last five matches but they did come from 2-0 down to draw with United on Saturday,

Gerrard wants to get Villa up the Premier League table and return them to the upper echelons of English football and while improving his side's fortunes on the pitch will help him become a hero with supporters, appealing to fans on social media also helps.
