A number of Premier League rival clubs are reportedly interested in a move for Reims wonderkid Hugo Ekitike, who has been compared to PSG star Kylian Mbappe.
Ekitike has risen to prominence at Reims, scoring eight goals in all competitions to help Les Rouges et Blancs steer clear of the Ligue 1 relegation battle.
Those goals have now seen him attract the attention of Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, who are all in the market for a striker in this month’s transfer window.
While he has only become a regular member of Oscar Garcia’s side this season, his performances are set to spark a major transfer battle between the interested parties.
Whoever signs him could have the next Mbappe on their hands, with Ekitike himself expressing his desire to follow in his compatriot’s footsteps.
“Over the last few years, he is the player I watch the most, who inspires me, and not necessarily only on the pitch,” he told Foot Mercato of Mbappe.
“That's what it means to be a top-level player and that's what I aspire to become.”
While he has been compared to Mbappe, Ekitike is much closer to recent Newcastle signing and target man Chris Wood, with the youngster standing at 6ft 2in tall.

He began his career at Cormontreuil FC before joining the Reims youth set-up in 2013, signing his first professional contract seven years later.
He scored six times in 15 games for Reims II and notched three goals during a loan spell at Danish Superliga side Vejle Boldklub last season.
Returning to Reims in the summer, Ekitike has certainly made his mark as the focal point of Garcia’s side.

While he is primarily a centre-forward, the 19-year-old is also capable of playing on the left wing if needed, making two appearances there this term.
He could be a relatively cheap signing considering the hopes about his future, with ChronicleLive reporting Ekitike could be available for £25million.
Chelsea are said to have made a formal enquiry regarding Ekitike, according to Foot Mercato, though Reims boss Oscar Garcia stated recently when questioned on his forward potentially leaving: "I have no news about his situation, he is still here, at each session and this week he has trained better than the previous one.
"We know he’s our best scorer, management too. But in football, you never know. If there is something, we have to be ready to replace it, but for now it’s here."
