Former Man City starlet Kane Ritchie-Hosler and exciting young striker Juan Alegria both took part in Rangers first-team training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash against Brondby.

The Gers are looking to win their first points in Group A after defeats to Lyon and Sparta Prague and are strong favourites at home against the Danish champions, given they are over 100 places above them in the UEFA club coefficient.

Important players like Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack, Filip Helander and Glen Kamara are all unavailable, but while Steven Gerrard is expected to name what he believes to be his strongest XI in the circumstances, he gave several youngsters the chance to impress in training on Wednesday.

Charlie McCann has spent a lot of time with the senior squad recently and he featured in a training video and gallery released by the club in the evening.

He wasn’t the only B team player who could be picked out, though.

Former Man City starlet Kane Ritchie-Hosler also took part in the session, as did Juan Alegria.

Ritchie-Hosler moved from Manchester to Glasgow in early 2019. The 19-year-old winger spent a few months out on loan in SPFL League One with Clyde last season and has scored twice for the B team in the Lowland League so far this campaign.

Alegria is a more recent addition at Auchenhowie, signing for Rangers from Finnish top-flight club FC Honka in August.

The 19-year-old striker has represented Colombia at youth international level and scored a brace on his Rangers B debut before spending time out injured.

McCann, Ritchie-Hosler and Alegria are all ineligible for the UEFA Youth League, so they missed out on a trip to Sweden this week for a fixture against Hammarby, but staying in Glasgow gave them an opportunity to impress the first-team coaching staff.

Meanwhile, a starlet who left Rangers in the summer is still yet to make his debut for his new club due to injury woes.
