Portuguese club Porto are currently under investigation with regard to the transfer of Portugal international defender Ricardo Pereira to Leicester City.
Ricardo burst onto the Premier League scene with the Foxes, making a name for himself almost instantly. Along with winning himself the accolades of Player of the Season as well as Players’ Player of the Season in his maiden campaign.
Following this, around six months later, the Portuguese suffered a nasty injury which kept him sidelined for the best part of a year. However, the 28-year-old struggled to revert to full fitness and find his top form during his comeback.
Nevertheless, Leicester persevere with their fine asset and are patient with the versatile player. Although Ricardo now has another issue keeping him out of matchday teams.
The Lisbon-born man is also being mentioned in the news as his former side, Porto, are now under investigation for the sale of Ricardo to Leicester City, with a suspicion of money laundering.
Foxes of Leicester now provides the only details available on the matter:
Portuguese newspapers are today full of stories about the ongoing investigation into Porto’s transfers in recent years. It’s believed that agents made around €20m in commissions which were not declared.
…club president Pinto da Costa and his son being two of the main suspects, along with agent Pedro Pinho.
…one is related to the Premier League, according to newspaper Correio da Manhã. That’s Ricardo Pereira and his move to Leicester City in 2018.
The newspaper writes that the sale was declared by Porto as being worth €20m, but there’s a suspicion that the player actually cost the Foxes more than that. The move was negotiated by Pedro Pinho.

Southampton vs Leicester City
The upcoming opponents for the Foxes are Southern England side Southampton; the Saints are five places below the former in 15th position at present but the two teams are, worryingly, only separated by four points.
Ralph Hasenhuttl has something about him and a decent squad to choose from, yet the Saints are as erratic and unpredictable as it gets in the English top-flight. Foxes of Leicester predict a win for the east Midlands outfit, but not another 9-0 outcome. It won’t be easy, yet LCFC must start to consistently claim points from winnable clashes.
