Danny Mills has suggested Victor Orta is putting unnecessary pressure on Leeds United starlet Archie Gray.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender delivered his verdict after Orta compared Gray to Sergio Aguero.
Speaking to Spanish outlet La Media Inglesa, as translated by All Stats Aren’t We, Leeds’ sporting director likened watching the 15-year-old to the first time he saw Aguero.
He also added people will be talking about the teenager “non-stop” in the coming years.
Gray is the son of ex-Whites forward Andy, the grandson of ex-defender Frank and the great-nephew of club legend Eddie.
The forward has already made history after he became the youngest-ever player to claim an assist in the EFL Trophy.
He provided the pass for Amari Miller’s goal in Leeds Under-21s’ 4-1 loss to Tranmere Rovers last month.
Asked for his assessment of Orta’s comments, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s too much.
“I know of him, I know he’s a good player but he’s 15-years-old. A lot can happen with growing, the way you can develop at that stage.
“He’s a big lad at 15, so he’ll have a slight advantage over some. He’s got a lot of ability but that’s a slight advantage.
“That will catch up when he goes through the ages, suddenly that changes.
“Be very careful about picking kids out at 15, 16 and comparing them to absolute legends that have been there, seen it and done it.
“It throws him into the spotlight unnecessarily.”
