Rangers-linked Djed Spence is making waves at Nottingham Forest on loan from Middlesbrough.

The 21-year-old was linked to the Gers by ESPN back in April.

It was reported that Rangers, Wolves and Everton were monitoring Spence, who can play at right-back or as a winger.

Wolves were said to be leading the race at that point, with Boro expected to listen to bids in excess of £5m.

However, no permanent transfer materialised, and instead, the ex-Fulham youth was loaned out to fellow Championship club Forest on 1 September.

Since then, he’s started every game he’s been available for and has been a big part of the Reds’ recent revival under new manager Steve Cooper.

Spence scored in a win at Birmingham City last month and on Tuesday night, he delivered an impressive display in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United at the City Ground.

He received the second-highest WhoScored.com rating of any Forest player with 6.89, but the rating doesn’t tell the full story.

Forest fans were delighted with his defensive and attacking efforts from the right flank.

Here’s a selection of reactions to his performance on Twitter:

Spence’s loan deal at the City Ground is set to run until the end of the season, at which point he’s due to return to the Riverside Stadium.

He would then only have a year left on his Boro deal, and therefore, could be available on the cheap.

Rangers are currently very well-stocked at right-back with James Tavernier and Nathan Patterson on the books, but Patterson has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, a crocked Rangers loanee hasn’t played for over a month as his woes continue in England.
