Aston Villa are said to be “monitoring” Manuel Ugarte’s situation at Manchester United.

It is understood the Red Devils are open to selling the Uruguay international in the summer transfer window, with the midfielder believed to be pushing to leave Old Trafford.

Ugarte signed for United from PSG in a £42m deal almost two years ago, but has failed to establish himself at the club.

He has started just seven times in the Premier League so far this season, making a further 14 appearances as a substitute.

Caughtoffside report Juventus lead the race to sign Ugarte, with United valuing him at £35m.

Galatasaray are also said to be interested, with Villa and Premier League rivals Newcastle United “monitoring the situation”.

Villa have struck deals with United for both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the last two seasons, both players swapping Old Trafford for Villa Park on loan deals, while they also swooped for Victor Lindelof on a free transfer when he left the Red Devils last summer.
