Merlin Rohl opened up on his pride at playing for Everton in a thoughtful post shared on social media.

The midfielder, who joined on loan from Freiburg in the summer, said he “cherished” the chances he was being given and described the Blues as a “great club”.

His words, written on Instagram, come with the 23-year-old potentially just days away from having his future confirmed. He will officially become an Everton player when the club avoids relegation from the Premier League, a feat that could be confirmed as early as next weekend.
