A goalless draw with Stevenage did little to boost Rotherham’s hopes of Sky Bet League One survival.

The stalemate kept the visitors within touching distance of the play-offs, but United remain nine points from safety with seven games left to play.

New Rotherham manager Lee Clark took charge at home for the first time and almost saw his side to get off to the perfect start when the ball fell kindly to Duncan Watmore in the box, but the experienced frontman lifted his effort over.

The visitors threatened when Jamie Reid dragged just wide after being found by Jordan Roberts's looping pass.

Home forward Sam Nombe then drew a save out of Filip Marschall with a strike from the edge of the box.

Liam Kelly took aim for Rotherham from the edge of the box, but dragged his shot wide.

Both sides had chances to win it as Ar'jany Martha volleyed over while, at the other end, Harvey White lashed at a chance.

The Millers finished the game a man down after Dan Gore was given a second yellow card in the 88th minute for stopping a counter-attack.
