Tottenham Hotspur have turned to former Brighton & Hove Albion mastermind Roberto De Zerbi to steer the club away from the unthinkable prospect of relegation. However, according to those who have worked most closely with the Italian, Spurs may have just pulled off a masterstroke.

Adam Lallana, the veteran midfielder who flourished under De Zerbi on the South Coast, has been vocal in his support. Speaking recently, Lallana insisted there is “not even a doubt” that his former mentor will secure Tottenham’s top-flight status.

“Definitely. Not even a doubt in my mind. I just think they’re very, very fortunate. I’m actually slightly jealous. I was speaking to a player at Spurs who was picking my brains about him. I just know they’re going to be in for a rollercoaster, but a great one.”
