Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new permanent head coach. He has replaced Igor Tudor, who was shown the door after a run of just one win from seven games in all competitions.

Roberto De Zerbi, who was out of work after mutually parting ways with French side Marseille in February, joins the North London club, mired in a Premier League relegation battle, just one point ahead of the bottom three in the table. He has committed to a long-term project at Spurs, as evidenced by a five-year deal, which has no relegation clause.

The Italian’s immediate objective is clear- save Tottenham from relegation. And to aid his cause, he has contacted Italy great Alessandro Nesta to become a part of his backroom staff at White Hart Lane. Having now hired a permanent boss, the N17 chiefs are stepping up their work for the summer transfer window. It looks like they are keen on reinforcing the forward department.
