Wednesday, 1st Apr 2026 07:00 by Swansea Independent

Vitor Matos has stepped down as head coach of Swansea City after an approach from a Bundesliga club (Germany) It is believed he has a buy out clause of three million pounds which after discussions overnight will be met.

Training today will be taken by Joe Allen, Leon Britton and Kristian O’Leary with Martyn Margetson also present having returned to the fold after his stint with Wales. Matos will be making a statement later on his situation but it is believed to be taking his staff with him that he brought in from Portugal in November.

It seems now there’s another rebuild on the horizon with the interested club also keen to have discussions with Zān Vipotnik once Matos agrees terms which will happen before the end of the day.

More on this later.
