Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has delivered a gracious message to Roy Hodgson following the 78-year-old's appointment as interim manager at Championship outfit Bristol City.

Hodgson has put pen to paper at Ashton Gate on a deal running until the end of the campaign after the Robins dismissed Gerhard Struber amid a woeful run of results that has seen them win just once in their previous nine fixtures.

Following a promising start to the season, the Robins were targeting a potential second consecutive play-off berth, but having faltered in recent months, they find themselves 16th and 12 points above the drop zone with seven games remaining.

While the Robins are virtually safe and a colossal 350/1 to be relegated via bet365, the Somerset outfit have chosen to make a switch with Struber axed and Hodgson arriving for his first managerial position in over two years.

Following his appointment, Klopp - who faced Hodgson on numerous occasions during his tenure at Liverpool - delivered a warm message to him and wished him success in the South West.
