Commerce City, Colo.- The Colorado Rapids announced Thursday that they acquired Kosi Thompson from Toronto FC. The Rapids signed Thompson for 200,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money(GAM) plus up to 200,000 in additional GAM if performance based incentives are met. 

Thompson, 23, made 113 appearances with Toronto FC across all competitions. Thompson recorded two goals and one assist in 6,614 minutes played. 

Thompson arrives just a day after the Rapids announced the signing of defender Luïc Williams from Grenada CF. As the transfer window comes to a close, head coach, Matt Wells and club President, Pádraig Smith have been adamant about adding more pieces to the current roster. 

Ahead of the match in Kansas City, Wells spoke on the plans to get people through the door before the transfer window closed.

“I’m hopeful that by the time the window closes we have at least one body coming through, because there is no doubt that we need more depth and competition in the squad. It’s never easy to bring players in, and the hard work continues.”
