Burnley midfielder Florentino Luís has offered a detailed insight into life in the Premier League, with the Clarets man opening up on intensity, adaptation and his early months in English football.

The 26-year-old arrived from Benfica with strong pedigree, including two Primeira Liga titles and a reputation as one of Portugal’s most reliable defensive midfielders. However, the move to Turf Moor has brought a very different challenge.

Speaking to a Portuguese podcast, Florentino made it clear that playing in England had long been an ambition, and he now finds himself living that reality.

“I used to watch Premier League matches every weekend when I was younger, whenever I had time. Today, being able to live this dream and be part of the elite has been a unique experience. It has been challenging every day since I arrived,” he said.

That dream quickly came with a reality check.

“I remember the first weeks of training, it was a shock. I knew it would be more intense, but when you actually experience it, you realise it’s much more intense. You have to be at your limit all the time.”
