Edoardo Bove joined Watford in January and the deal came as a welcome return to action for the midfielder.

Sport Witness covered his move to London extensively, as the Italian made his debut against Preson in the middle of February.

This was celebrated quite a bit in Italy, where Bove saw his career take off and then fade due to heart problems. He had become a fan favourite at AS Roma, where he had initially broken through under Jose Mourinho.

At the weekend against Wrexham, Bove scored his first goal for Watford. It was also his first goal in over 14 months, with his last coming in a loan at Fiorentina.

The Italian has now spoken to the press in his home country.

Goal seen as starting point

The 23-year-old expressed delight to TG1 after the goal and he sees it as a starting spot for something special at Watford.

He said – relayed by VoceGiallorossa: “It was a very clever goal. I’ve had a lot of time to think and dream this past year, now it’s a new starting point.”
