Sean Dyche says the “power” of the noise that greeted Abdoulaye Doucoure’s survival-clinching goal against Bournemouth - and then the reaction to the final whistle 40 minutes later - were two moments he would never want to lose from his career.

The former Everton manager has reflected in depth on the final week of the 2022/23 season, when his side started the final game knowing only a win at Goodison Park would guarantee Premier League safety.

Dyche recalled the drama that afternoon as he looked back on two years of attempting to steer the club through chaos on and off the pitch. He says he was “incredibly proud” of the work he did in such tough circumstances on Merseyside.

The 54-year-old relived the 1-0 win over Bournemouth - the second successive season that Everton’s fight against relegation went to the final week - with journalist Henry Winter and former Liverpool CEO Christian Purslow on The Football Boardroom podcast.
