Manchester United need all hands on deck if they are to finish in the Champions League places come the end of the season.

Michael Carrick‘s arrival has certainly helped, with the Red Devils unbeaten in their last six games, which include wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

But the caretaker head coach cannot continue to work his magic if injuries keep piling up every week.

For the Everton win, the 20-time English league champions were without Lisandro Martinez, in addition to the absence of Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, and Mason Mount.

As revealed by The Manchester Evening News, the Englishman is closing in on a return to action and has joined team training ahead of Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

However, as things stand, the former Chelsea star is unlikely to make the cut for Sunday’s game, but there is a chance he can feature against Newcastle in midweek.
